Starting in Rome, you move through Tuscany to Pisa and Florence before heading north to Verona and finally Venice, where the trip ends amid canals, gondolas and world-famous piazzas. Rome sets the tone on Day 1 with arrival and an evening briefing with your Tour Director. A full guided sightseeing day follows: St. Peter's Square with a Local Guide, a scenic drive past the Tiber River, the ancient Pyramid of Caius Cestius, the Aurelian Walls and the Baths of Caracalla, then a walk from Circus Maximus to the Arch of Constantine and the iconic Colosseum. Day 3 takes you through the rolling hills and cypress-lined roads of Tuscany. In Pisa, a mini-train ride brings you to the Square of Miracles and the Leaning Tower before you continue to Florence — the city that gave the world the Renaissance. Day 4 is dedicated to Florence on foot: the magnificent Cathedral, Giotto's Bell Tower, the Baptistry's bronze Gate of Paradise and the historic Piazza della Signoria. The afternoon is yours for shopping or exploration. On Day 5, the tour crosses the River Po to Verona — Shakespeare's setting for Romeo and Juliet — where you explore the city centre and see the remarkably preserved Roman Verona Arena, still used today for concerts and festivals. The evening brings you to the Venice area, with an optional evening excursion along the Giudecca Canal and a visit to St. Mark's Square at night. Day 6 is Venice itself. Your included orientation tour opens with a boat ride to St. Mark's Square, followed by a visit to a traditional Venetian glassblowing workshop to see the craft behind Murano glass. The rest of the day is free to wander at your own pace. Dinner is included this evening. Day 7 brings the tour to a close after breakfast.
